MY GOTCHA DAY

The day finally came, 23rd of May 2019: the day that I went to my forever home!

I literally had no idea that I was going to be leaving Just For Dogs that day and I nearly didnt get to say goodbye to my best friend Flora, but luckily we caught her on the way out and we got to have a quick play before I left.

I woke up just like normal, next to Flora, wagged my tail a bit and was fetched to go with Ebony, Mum and Keeley, just like we were going on a usual dog walk, but we didnt go for a walk. We spent forever in reception, I have no idea what they were doing but they were writing on paper and everything looked very official. I was more interested in the dog food in the freezer though, mmmm! They were talking for ages and I just wanted to go for my walk.

Our photo that went on the Just For Dogs Faceboook page. As you can see, I was definitely more interested in the food in the freezer.

When we finaaaaaally left reception, we went to a white car, I had never been in one of them before and I was unsure at first, Mum had to lift me in.  It was exciting, seeing all the new things around me and experiencing new things. I did wonder where we were going though. Were we going on an adventure somewhere else? Were we going to a different country? Was I going to their home? Yes, I was going to their house, well, my house too now, I shortly realised.

In the car on the way home.

I have never really been in a house before so it was awesome, but I did know that I had a lot of exploring to do. As soon as my lead was off, that was it, I was off. There were so many new smells and so many things I hadnt seen before. Thankfully, after searching the whole house I realised that there were no other animals in the house, I am the only one- lucky me. I am not good at sharing attention, I need it all. I love cuddles and tummy rubs.

It didnt take me long to settle in and get a cuddle!

There was so many new noises and it made me excited.

Ebony must have been so smiley because she brought me home, I mean, who wouldnt be?

When I had done exploring, I settled down for a bit on the sofa and I had a drink from my new water bowl. I then had a few biscuits too but I wasnt really that hungry. I do love holding hands with Ebony though, it makes me feel safe.

Hold my hand!

Then I got to explore the area around where I live now! There are so many trees, we live near a mini wood and there is so many flowers in it and places to hide. Theres a stream and I have found my love for water, I love splashing around and seeing what I can find. And I just love shaking off at the end and getting as many people wet as I can. Theres ducks, so many ducks and I even saw some chicks! Theres so much grass- my favourite is long grass, I love running through long grass! I just love where I live now and I discovered this on my gotcha day.

Admiring the view.

We also visited my Nan and Grandads house on my gotcha day too. We visited at the end of the walk before we turned home. They have a big garden with quite low fences, I dont think I am quite ready to be let off my lead just yet, they might have a scare else! We then went home for cuddles- I wasnt joking when I said I loved cuddles. Especially with Ebony, but I am liking them a bit more with Mum and my other sister, Keeley. I still have some work to do with Dad but we will get there!

Aaaaaaand sleep.

Guess where I slept that night? I slept on Ebony's bed. On a bed. An actual bed. I dont think I was supposed to though, my own bed was originally downstairs but I didnt want to sleep on my own so Mum moved it upstairs down the side of Ebony's bed. Still, it wasnt close enough to Ebony so I ended up in bed with her, lay on her actually.

Snuggles until I fell asleep and started snoring.

And that concludes my gotcha day! I had such a fun day and I cant wait for the future with my new family!

MEET ME, DINA!

Welcome to my blog ladies, gentleman and the dogs that can read!

When I first Met Keeley!

My name is Dina, I am 1 and a half and my birthday is in October, on the 28th to be exact. I live with my Mummy, Helen, my Daddy, Paul and my big sisters Ebony and Keeley.

I was actually born in Sarajevo, you probably dont know where that is, so let me tell you- it is in the federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Europe, somewhere near Montenegro, Serbia and Croatia, at least I think. You still dont know, right? No? Me neither really, I just know that it took what felt like forever to get over to the UK.

When I finaaaaally got over to the UK, I was taken to such a wonderful place, its called Just For Dogs, I think it is somewhere in the centre of England. Anyway, they were super nice to me there, they fed me such good food and I got to go for walks every morning! That is where I met my family.

If I get my dates muddled up, please excuse me! On the 18th of May I believe, I first met Mum, Dad and Ebony. They came to meet me in my kennel, I think it was love at first sight- I mean, how could you not fall in love with me? I was in the kennel with my friends Betsy and Max who travelled over with me. I was super nervous at first and hid behind Betsy, she is a big friendly giant so I knew she would keep me safe. But my family were so nice to me and I was excited to see them again.

Mum and Ebony came to see me again after that, I think it was the day after that, the 19th of May. We had such a good walk, Mum walked my friend Max, he was even more scared than me but once we were out we had so much fun! I even saw a dead squirrel, they wouldnt let me at it though- mean. I was really sad when they left me, I was hoping that they would come back and they did!

Ebony came back the day after with another girl, I think her name was Emily. We had a fairly short walk that day, I spent most of it giving Ebony cuddles. I think I found my best friend for real that day.

On the 22nd of May, I met another new face- my big sister, Keeley. She was so nice but we were a bit nervous of each other, I dont think Keeley liked dogs too much before she met me, obviously I converted her. I think Keeley liked me a lot because they reserved me! I would finally have a home where I can get cuddles at all times of the day.

The day finally came, 23rd of May 2019. The day when I went to my forever home. Although I was sad to leave Just For Dogs where they had been so lovely to me, I was so excited to go to my new home and for the future with my new family! It was so strange getting in the car to go home, I sat next to Ebony and she comforted me the whole way home. I saw so many new things out of the window on that journey, it was so exciting. I was so excited to get out the car and go into my new home. I made myself at home straight away and claimed the left side of the 3 seater sofa. Sometimes I even claim the whole sofa and make everyone else sit on the floor!

Anyway, I am nearly settled in now, I have slept in Ebony's bed nearly every day since I arrived, it is so comfy. It is much better than my bed, my bed is on the floor but hers is my first choice. Ebony has to race me up to her bedroom to bed or I claim the whole bed and she has to pick me up to make some space for her, haha!

I have never been for so many walks in my life! We go super early in the morning as soon as I wake up and wake Ebony up for a long walk, for a short(ish) walk in the middle of the day and another long walk in the evening. I am at my happiest when I am outside running through fields- and dragging people along with me at the end of the lead. I have found a love for water, whenever we go on a walk, I love to sprint into the water and see how wet I can get. Oh, and my favourite part you ask? Shaking off at the end of my splash about and seeing how many people I can get wet! It is my favourite game.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself to you, let you know that I am happy and that I am having fun in my new home.

Talk to you soon!

Lots of love,

Dina xo
